Morphology: Specimens described in this work were examined in the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales. The female genitalia were examined and illustrated using an Olympus BH-2 compound microscope. Extended focal range photos were taken using a Leica 500 digital camera attached to a Leica M205C stereo microscope. The multi-focus photographs were assembled using Leica Application Suite ver. 3.0.0. For scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images were made with a FEI-XL30 SEM using the protocols of Ramírez (2014). Phylogenetic analysis: We used six genetic markers from the mitochondrial (12S, 16S, COI) and nuclear (histone H3, 18S, 28S) genomes, previously applied to estimate relationships of spiders (Polotow et al. 2015; Wheeler et al., 2017; Domènech et al. 2022), complemented with the genomic sequences flanked by ultraconserved elements (UCE) processed by Kulkarni et al. (2023) to provide a robust skeleton of the phylogenetic tree. We included all genera of Zoropsidae and Udubidae for which there was available target-gene data up to September 2024 (we did not include the sequences of Udibidae from the recent study of Henrard et al. 2024 which appeared while this manuscript was in review), plus representatives of all families of the Oval Calamistrum clade, as well as representatives of Dionycha and of the main lineages of the RTA clade to root the tree (see Azevedo et al. 2022). In cases were focal markers and UCE sequences are not both available for the same species, we combined congeners into single terminals (denoted by “ch” in Table 1). Since there were no congeners of Udubidae with both types of data, we combined data from Uduba kavanaughi Griswold, Ubick, Ledford & Polotow with “Udubidae sp. CASENT9070525” from Kulkarni et al. (2023) into a single chimeric terminal. Names of udubid terminals were updated according to Henrard et al. (2024). Target-gene sequences were aligned with MAFFT Online v.7.463 (Katoh & Standley 2013), using the L-INS-I algorithm. UCE data were taken as aligned from the 25% occupancy dataset of Kulkarni et al. (2023), and the UCE partition was extracted using AMAS (Borowiec 2016). See Table 1 for list of vouchers and sequence identifiers. For the maximum likelihood analyses we used IQ-TREE 2.2.0 (Minh et al. 2020), partitioning the dataset by each of the six individual markers, and a single partition for the UCE data. We selected the evolution models by Bayesian information criterion (best fitting models were TIM2+F+G4 for 12s, TIM2+F+I+G4 for 16S, TIMe+I+I+R3 for 18S, GTR+F+I+I+R4 for 28S, GTR+F+I+G4 for COI, K2P+I+I+R3 for H3, TVM+F+I+I+R6 for UCE). Support for groups was estimated by 1000 cycles of ultrafast bootstrapping. Eleven independent runs were performed, and the one with maximum fit was selected.
